Been meaning to chime in and tell you guys how awesome the Viper unit is. I now have 2 seasons with the 16 192 and wifey has only driven once for literally minutes. She just keep saying I can't keep this pos straight. Why did you buy this. :mad:It sucked big time hearing her say that as she is pretty good behind the wheel of a car. I wanted her to enjoy driving the boat. Fast forward 2 years and 3 outings in the last 2 weeks. I now can't keep her hands off the wheel.. It's best described by @veedubtek posts. You can literally hold it wide open and with no hands.(No boats around when we did this) In calm to a little choppy waters the boat stays straight as can be... Crazy Awesome! The boat just feels planted in the water! No more tail wagging out the back end! At slow speeds and at dock? One word (Awesome) The boat should come from Yamaha this way.. Last week at Kerr we had winds 15 to 20 mph. Had some really big waves for a NC Lake and the boat handled it like a champ. Needless to say The wifey and I give all of our thumbs up! Nice job Jeff @Cobra Jet Steering LLC !!!! Thanks for making such a beneficial and very good quality product.

I just installed two Cobra Jet Steering Viper setups on my SX230 and I must say, I am very pleased with the results. I have been a jetboater and jetskier since the mid 90's and I have had my current boat since 2007. I originally added an earlier version of Cobra fins back in 2008 because I could not stand the lack of tracking ability at low speeds on my boat. I ran that system until 2014 when I decided to switch to a set of Thrust Vextor XL's because I thought I was missing the old jetboat feel. I was happy at the time with my switch but after a few seasons I grew tired again of the limited straight tracking ability at anything above no wake mode and the squirly jetboat feel when crossing wakes. So, I decided to give the Venoms a shot. The first thing that I noticed while backing off of my trailer is that I still had the same level of control even though the Vipers do not extend as far down in the water. The second noticeable plus was that the boat seemed to plane more quickly and I was actually able to reduce my speed and maintain a plane by about 500 rpm less when compared to not having the vipers. This is due to the trim tab like design aspect. But, the biggest improvement for me was the off idle tracking ability. Holding at 3k and 4K rpm, I had excellent tracking and I didn't have to constantly course correct. Another benefit that I noticed is when coming off plane in an emergency stop situation where you quickly pull the throttles back to neutral, I actually had some steering control. That's something I don't think that I ever had before. So, overall, I am pretty excited about my new mod and the only downside is that it is mid October and time to put her away for the winter. Meh. But I look forward to next season with my new Viper setup!

I had another manufacturers"fins" on my boat and never really noticed much improvement in steering. I just replaced them with the Cobra Venom 16x's and I now notice a big improvement at all speeds even while decelerating!!! Thanks Jeff, great product, great customer support and very easy to install.

We purchased the cobra jet steering from you at the beginning of June. A couple viewings of your YouTube video later and the fins were installed! We took the boat out two weekends ago it was super windy at Lake Mead in Nevada AND THE STEERING IS AMAZING!!!! what a difference! I usually trailer the boat my husband backs the trailer in, before the fins the boat a Yamaha SX210 would spin in a circle as I attempted to drive it onto the trailer now It steers right onto the trailer like a regular prop! We cannot thank you enough it's like we have a brand new boat! We will be telling everyone in NV about you and your wonderful invention! Thank you again!!!

I THOUGHT I MADE A $25,000 MISTAKE! I bought my first boat ever – 19’ Yamaha SX190 Jet boat and launched it only to discover that it was very difficult to steer and nearly impossible for me to dock and load. My heart sank and I was sick. I phoned the dealer and much to my surprise they recommended your Cobra Jet Steering system. I ordered your steering system right away and the easy to use instruction and video made installation a snap. I do mean a “snap,” because I am not mechanically inclined at all. After the installation, (which took about 20 min for me) I launched the boat and it was like MAGIC! I could drive my new boat with ease and the response time in the steering was almost immediate. Thanks COBRA JET STEERING, this could have turned out very ugly and costly for me. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thank you Jeff, for taking the time and trouble to personally answer my questions regarding your Cobra Jet Steering System. I was amazed at your response time both with email and via the telephone. You truly believe in your product and CARE about your customers and their satisfaction. This is the way business ought to be.

Oh my god! Jeff I wanted to send a note to thank you for several reasons. First your communication has been flawless, I ordered the fins last weekend. You responded immediately! Second, you sourced cheaper shipping and sent me a credit! Who does this? Thank you! Third, the install is amazingly easy, I cracked a beer to enjoy while in did the install and only got to have three sips before I was done! Fourth and most important, OMG I now have a different craft! The new handling is amazing! I have the best of both worlds now, a jet boat with traditional handling! Jeff thank you again and keep up the great work, it's truly appreciated in the boating world!

Hi Jeff - I installed the Cobra Jet Venom Ultimate fins last week. The difference in handling is night and day. Prior to the installation, my 2014 Yamaha SX 190 was very hard to steer at low speed because of such delayed response (ship without a rudder). There was also some of that at high speed although not as pronounced. The worst handling was coming off plane into midrange. Docking was touchy, even with practice. Now the boat handles as well as any outdrive I have owned. In fact, with the Cobra Jet fins combined with the Yamaha No Wake Mode, it handles better than an outdrive. Anyone who owns an SX 190 should get these right away to dramatically increase their boating experience. Sincerely, Pete Brown

I purchased your combo for the above boat. Easy Install, thanks, it's great. I talked to Yamaha Tec. Support, and the person I talked with said she has been constantly hearing about your product but did not see your Web Page, so I directed her to look at it.... This product makes my low speed handling MUCH BETTER, and Wake Trapping is not a problem anymore. Thanks again for the product, it was well worth the cost and effort to install it (took all of 15-minutes).

After some steering and tracking issues I ordered Cobra Venom 16x steering upgrades for our 2011 AR 240. I ordered the parts on Wednesday and they were delivered to our marina by Friday. I explained to Jeff that our boat was about 100 miles away from us and could he let me know what tools were needed. Jeff was kind enough to send me everything that I needed for the install. Between the instruction sheet and the video of the install, it was very easy and quick to install on our boat. We had a variety of water conditions over the week end. First very calm, so we spent the morning skiing and wake boarding. The boat tracked well, held a straight line and seamed to come around faster and turn sharper. As the day went on and the sea breeze picked up, we had our typical afternoon water conditions, 1 to 2 ft wind chop on the bay where the boat tracked much better and held straight lines thru boat all of the boat wakes. We then went out into the ocean, , 3 to 4 ft waves through the inlet with winds out of the south east, again the boat tracked well but the true test would be when we come back in with following seas and the wind hitting us on our port side at 10 to 15mph. I was not sure what to expect on the way back in, the seas and wind picked up slightly and we would have to surf a few waves it. It turned out to be fun coming back in, the boat tracked well while surfing a the waves in with the following seas and no issues from the wind or when the boat was down in the troughs . I had the tracking fins positioned to give the most amount of steering response. I highly recommend this product.
